Surface tour
Experience the development and industrialization of mining above ground as well.
There is also plenty to see above ground at the Sauberg. On our surface tour, our guide takes you to our open-air exhibition of historic mining machinery, the medieval bench-mining sites, the memorial to Oswald Barthel and his tragic story, our landmark—the Shaft 2 headframe—and our FM 24 twin-drum surface hoist.
This tour is designed for visitors who are unable to go underground into the mine, as well as for anyone else interested.
