Touristikführung / the small tour
Our short tour includes, among other things, demonstrations of numerous pieces of original mining equipment at authentic locations, insights into the miners' daily lives during the GDR era, and a ride on the mine train.
Advance booking is strongly recommended! For safety reasons, underground tours only take place with a minimum group size of two people.
A mine hoist takes visitors down to a depth of 100 meters. The tour covers key sites showcasing modern mining operations in Ehrenfriedersdorf. Sturdy footwear and warm, durable clothing are required. The tour generally includes a ride on the mine train, demonstrations of various pneumatic mining tools, and an introduction to the daily life of a miner and the hardships involved in that era.
Schedule and start times: Thursday through Sunday at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM
Duration: 1.5 hours
Equipment provided: Safety helmet, protective cape
For mine tour participants, admission to the museum — either before or after the tour — is included in the ticket price during regular museum opening hours.
